Threat details

Hidden Cobra are distributing AppleJeus via disguised applications or drive-by-downloads, both of which are delivered from compromised cryptocurrency trading sites. The disguised applications do not contain the malware directly, but instead download it depending on the type of device infected

At the time of publication it is unclear what Hidden Cobra are using AppleJeus for, although there are indications it has similar capabilities to their FALLCHILL remote access trojan.

  • A robust program of education and awareness training is delivered to users to ensure they don’t open attachments or follow links within unsolicited emails.
  • All operating systems, anti-virus and other security products are kept up-to-date.
