Summary

Threat actors are exploiting a known vulnerability in Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) and Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) software to cause denials-of-service (DoS) on affected devices.

Threat details

On 6th June 2018 Cisco released security updates for a vulnerability that allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to cause devices to reload unexpectedly or leak sensitive system information.

Proofs of concept for exploiting the vulnerability have since been published, and now Cisco have reported attacks taking place on end-user devices.
