COSD and cancer data roadshows 2024

The events page for the Cancer Outcomes and Services Data Set (COSD) and cancer data roadshows that were held in January and February 2024.

We are aware of the issue with videos not working and are actively working to resolve it as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Introduction

As part of the roll-out of the new COSD v10 and COSD Pathology v5 data sets, the National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) held a series of 8 roadshows across England, to support key people within organisations responsible for collecting, curating, and reporting cancer data to NDRS.

The roadshows included presentations about the changes to COSD, information about NDRS and how we use data to drive clinical improvement. In addition, there were also presentations from the NHS England (NHSE), Living With and Beyond Cancer (LWBC) team and Cancer Waiting Times (CWT), as well as Acute Oncology and the National Cancer Audit Collaborating Centre (NATCAN). This built on a similar mix of presentations at the 2020 events, which was appreciated by the delegates attending.

The aim of the roadshows was to improve people’s knowledge of the changes to COSD and cancer data collection in general, but also what NDRS and other key stakeholders do with their data. Emphasising how important their work is and how valued the delegates are, was a key part of the roadshows.

These roadshows also provided a networking opportunity for Cancer Services staff in NHS Trusts to meet other teams within their region.

The venues were specifically chosen to be close to vital transport links and have access to car parking (either on site or within the local vicinity), and each Trust  was allocated places based on size, and Cancer Alliances were offered two places per Alliance.

NDRS is hugely grateful for your continuing support and hard work you do in collecting, quality assuring and reporting cancer data.  And we appreciate the efforts Trusts go to, to provide such amazing outcomes. The data you provide is used in a huge variety of applications from cancer registration to GRAIL and many local, regional, and national analytical projects, as well as published clinical papers and international benchmarking projects.
