Request received for for mental health and self-harm admissions.

Our response

In response to the media query for mental health and self-harm admissions, we have provided the following:

1. A count of finished admission episodes with a primary diagnosis for 'mental and behavioural disorders' (excluding 'due to use of tobacco') by gender and by requested age groups from 2005/06 to 2019/20.

2. A count of finished admission episodes (FAEs) for 'self-harm' and 'self-poisoning' by gender and by requested age groups from 2005/06 to 2019/20.

3. A count of finished admission episodes for 'self-harm' and 'self-poisoning' broken down by external cause code, by gender and by requested age groups from 2005/06 to 2019/20.

4. A count of finished admission episodes with a primary diagnosis for 'mental and behavioural disorders' (excluding 'due to use of tobacco') by month, by gender and by requested age groups from 2005/06 to 2020/21 (provisional).

5. A count of finished admission episodes (FAEs) for 'self-harm' and 'self-poisoning' by month, by gender and by requested age groups from 2005/06 to  2020/21 (provisional).

 6. A count of finished admission episodes for 'self-harm' and 'self-poisoning' broken down by external cause code, by month, by gender and by requested age groups from 2005/06 to 2020/21 (provisional).
