Burden reduction plans

We work closely with the Department of Health and Arm's Length Bodies (ALBs) to support the development of burden reduction plans. These plans set out how each organisation plans to minimise the data burden they place on the health and social care system in England and to reduce bureaucracy.

All organisations have committed to the overriding principles of a DH concordant to:

  • collect data that is proportionate and with a clear business purpose
  • not duplicate other data collections
  • work through NHS Digital as the national base for all data
  • review the need to collect the data regularly

As an ALB we also have produced our own burden reduction plan.  It shows what we are doing to reduce the data burden on health and social care organisations and follows the NHS Confederation report which was published in 2013.
