Summary Care Records with Additional Information – user research report

We ran a user research project to understand users' experiences with Summary Care Records (SCR) and the information they provide, particularly focusing on the inclusion of Additional Information by default.

Summary Care Records with Additional Information – user research report

Key findings

Our users told us that Additional Information being included by default in the SCR has provided a vital source of information in critical situations.

Additional Information is very important in situations where the patient is unable to tell health and care professionals information about their medical history.

Health and care settings that work out of hours, such as GPs, psychiatry, and ambulance services, benefit the most from access to Additional Information.

Of the 209 users we surveyed, only 7 did not see a benefit to patients in maintaining Additional Information in Summary Care Records as the default option.
