London Borough of Islington

Free Text for predictive analytics. A dataset which links and Adult Social Care to identify need, escalating need and predict demand for adult social care.

Description

The London Borough of Islington, North East London (NEL) Integrated Care System (ICS) and their research partner, the London School of Economics collaborated to build a dataset which links health (such as primary care and acute data) and Adult Social Care (ASC) data (including referrals, service user outcomes and free text data from adult social care case notes) to identify need, escalating need and predict demand for adult social care.

People profiles were generated by applying Artificial Intelligence methodologies to search free text on redacted social care case notes to better inform strategic planning of services.

Due to the Covid pandemic, resulting in key resources being diverted / re-deployed, the project did not complete its objectives in March 2021, however the work is planned to continue locally for the remainder of 2021/22.

Scale during the programme

One of the main objectives of the pathfinder projects was that any other communities that might wish to adopt a similar approach should not be charged a second time by the supplier for the same software development costs (although reasonable implementation and maintenance could of course be levied).
