Overview
The cache clearance tool will clear the Oberthur cache in an attempt to resolve the error which gives the message "There is a problem reading your Smartcard..." in the Identity Agent which is seen by users who have an Oberthur (Series 8) Smartcard and Oberthur Middleware installed. This issue occurs more frequently on machines where the Smartcard was renewed on a different machine to the one where the Smartcard has been previously used.
The tool clears the Oberthur cache forcing the Oberthur Middleware to do a full re-read of the card contents.
This tool is not applicable to users with either GEM Smartcards or users who have an OT Smartcard, but have no OT Middleware installed.
The tool will not repair faulty Smartcards, the user will still need to visit their RA if this is the case.
