Access Database update
In the August newsletter we stated we would not publish the OrgCuDev product (also referred to as the Access Database) from November 2017.
We have had some enquiries from users who wish to continue using the product. Whilst we recognise there is a need to remove the product, we do not wish to impact on service delivery.
If you need this product, please contact us.
We will engage with product users over the next few months to communicate a decommissioning plan.
If you have already submitted a questionnaire, please request the database by contacting us for an updated version, while the decommissioning review is ongoing.
Application Programming Interface
The live version of the ODS API suite will be available from April 2018.
We will deliver the requirement for publishing more frequent updates, described in the published standard Health and Social Care Organisation Reference Data (ORD), by the ORD API interface.
Get further details and a link to a test version of the ODS API Suite.
We will be showcasing the API Connect-athon events, along with other APIs developed by NHS Digital. The first event scheduled for the 14 March 2018 is now full.
Please contact us if you need any information on future Connect-athon events.
Care Homes Switchover
The work to align the Care Home data between ODS and CQC is almost complete. This will mean that CQC becomes the single source of truth for care home information in England.
The output of this work is currently being tested by a small selection of customers prior to publication.
The amended data will be published as part of the February quarterly production. Users will see a high number of amendments in this publication:
- approx. 500 Care Home HQ records will close
- approx. 2000 new Care home HQ records
- approx. 5000 Care Home site records to be re-parented
Customer Service Survey
We value our customer's feedback on our service, good or bad. If you receive a survey please could you take a couple of minutes out of your day and complete it.
In the coming months we will include the survey link on all responses from the ODS Support Team.
Only the ODS Team will be able to view your completed surveys.
Deputy Senior Information Risk Officer
We have recently introduced a new role of a Deputy Senior Information Risk Officer (SIRO).
Only a registered SIRO can nominate a Deputy SIRO. A Deputy SIRO can only sign off application access when the nominated SIRO is absent and the application is urgent.
We have updated our forms have to reflect the new role.
NHS Postcode Directory Enhancements
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) are adding two new fields to the NHS Postcode Directory which ODS publish.
The two new fields are:
- Sustainability and Transformation Partnership Identifier (STP)
- Cancer Alliance or national Cancer Vanguard Identifier
The new fields will be in the directory in May 2018.
