Online access to GP records patient case studies: Gaynor's story

Find out how records access has given Gaynor control over her healthcare needs.

Gaynor's story

Gaynor is in her early 70s and lives in Warwickshire. She has lymphoedema and several other long-term conditions including asthma, osteoarthritis and type 2 diabetes. Gaynor uses the NHS app to access her GP health records including test results, letters between her GP and consultants, and to check her past and current medications.

Reassurance and confidence

"Having access to the information in my records means I can ask questions and raise concerns about my blood test results and receive assurance from my GP after viewing this on the app. Having access to the test results gives me more confidence in what the GP is saying. I feel more informed and able to discuss my preferences with my GP.

Better prepared and in control

“Before appointments I can check my recent test results and prepare the questions I want to ask.

It’s given me a better understanding of my health. It’s putting me in charge. It’s giving me a more person-centred experience. It makes me feel like I’m being listened to, in simple terms it’s better communication.
