Changes to the Emergency codes section in GP Connect Access Record: HTML

17 December 2020 - This week, TPP made a change to include the latest set of COVID19 codes in the ‘Emergency codes’ section. These will now appear whenever recorded in the patient’s record.

Earlier this year, to help users of GP Connect Access Record: HTML quickly identify COVID19 related information on a patient record, we introduced an ‘Emergency codes’ section on the Summary view. This ‘Emergency codes’ section brought together coded information relating to COVID19 which would otherwise appear across a number of the views and be interspersed with other records.

Since the introduction of this ‘Emergency codes’ section the NHS has come a long way in fighting COVID19 so new clinical codes are needed to ensure accurate recording of information on patient records. A recent example is the administration of COVID19 vaccinations.

This week, TPP made a change to include the latest set of COVID19 codes in the ‘Emergency codes’ section. These will now appear whenever recorded in the patient’s record. EMIS will be making the same change in the new year with the date to be confirmed.

Vision and Eva Health do not currently display the ‘Emergency codes’ section of the Summary view but for those accessing these systems in the limited FOT capacity the codes will be available in the relevant section of the HTML view.

Users of Access Record: HTML are advised not to rely solely on the ‘Emergency codes’ section, or indeed the Summary view, and should consult all relevant sections of the HTML view when providing care.

There’s no requirement for existing consumers of Access Record HTML to uplift as this is primarily a reference set update and does not require a specification change.
