Quality and Outcomes Framework Subset extract for dementia prevalence for financial year 2016/17 (SoS dementia)

The Department of Health (DH) launched the National Dementia Strategy in 2009. The strategy highlighted the potential issue of under-diagnosis of people with dementia. This data collection will be used by NHS England to monitor diagnosis rates for dementia during 2016-17.

Purpose and outline

The purpose of this service supports the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) Subset Extract for Dementia Prevalence for the financial year 2016-17.

An ambition to increase the rate of dementia diagnosis has been agreed by the Department of Health and NHS England, and is specified in the NHS mandate.

This customer requirement is to extract aggregated data on dementia diagnoses categorised into gender and age bands.

The QOF Subset Dementia Service is on CQRS to record a GP practice's agreement for data extracts to take place only. No data from this extract will be recorded in CQRS and there is no CQRS payment attached to this service.
