MMR vaccination programme

Purpose and outline

Following advice from Public Health England, the Chief Medical Officer recommended a catch-up temporary vaccination programme for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) to respond to the outbreak of infection.

The MMR catch-up programme has been agreed between NHS Employers on behalf of NHS England and the BMA General Practitioners Committee. The programme continues from the previous year unchanged. GP practices, who vaccinate patients who were previously unvaccinated, can claim reimbursement.

Where a programme is CQRS/manual only, practices are required to use the clinical codes as provided in the technical requirements document on NHS Employers website. Business rules will not be provided, so practices should decide the best mechanism for reporting the figures, either by developing their own templates or by working with their system supplier to create a template.
