Services are provided at our discretion subject to resource, complexity and cost constraints.

Standard extracts provide cumulative data for the financial year to date for a number of different data sets, delivered monthly, quarterly or annually on a subscription basis. We will provide you with provisional year-to-date, pseudonymised data. Identifiable data may be provided where an appropriate legal basis is in place. 

Tailored record-level extracts from a number of different data sets, subject to resource, complexity and cost agreement. We will provide you with an extract of pseudonymised data that meets your specifications. Identifiable data may be provided where an appropriate legal basis is in place. 

Linking data sets to your specifications, linking two or more sets of data that we hold or linking customer data to data that we hold. Subject to the relevant approvals and costs, this service is available using any of our routinely linked data sets at an available frequency. Extracts linked to your own data can only be produced once your cohort has been received. Until that point your request does not join the Data Production queue i.e. not at the point of initial approval.

Provision of the demographic status of a specific group of patients or track them over a period of time, and provide regular updates using demographic data, cancer data and mortality data. Once the scope is agreed we can match individuals from your submitted participants list to provide:

• validation of demographic data to improve linkage outcomes and/or ensure it is accurate prior to patients being contacted. 
• a snapshot of current demographic status and mortality including cause of death where appropriate
• periodic long-term updates on demographic status, morbidity and mortality of a patient cohort

Aggregate statistical tables of data, tailored to meet your requirements, for a number of different data sets. 

Provides local authorities with HES data via extract or direct system access. Delivering inpatient, outpatient and A&E data, updated on a monthly basis, for the whole of England for the last ten years.

NHS Digital’s Secure Data Environment (SDE) service provides approved researchers and analysts with access to essential, de-identified health data from national health settings, to deliver quick answers to vital health related questions.

NHS DigiTrials offers data services to support clinical trials. We help reduce the time, effort and cost of developing new drugs, treatments and services, bringing benefits to patients, the public and the NHS.

Data Services for Commissioners is responsible for ensuring NHS Digital meets its statutory and service obligations to commissioners. We do this via the Data Services for Commissioners Regional Offices (DSCROs) and by developing and implementing policies and plans.
