Caron was a registered general nurse for the first 18 years of her career. This was across intensive care, general medicine, coronary care, emergency department and acute medicine.
Her next move was to nursing leadership and since 2000 she has held a number of nursing leadership roles including Matron for Acute Medicine, Divisional Nurse posts and Deputy Director of Nursing.
Her previous role was Chief Nurse of Health Informatics and Head of Clinical Engagement at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Caron believes it is "vital that NHS leadership is characterised by real desire to deliver the highest quality treatment and care for our patients. This includes through the support, development and growth of our staff."
