Household survey shows decline in numbers of children and young people smoking and drinking
14 December 2016: The 2015 Health Survey for England (2) (HSE) found that 16 per cent (3) of children aged 8 to 15 reported ever having an alcoholic drink (4.) This is the lowest level ever reported since the HSE began, down from the highest point of 45 per cent in 2003.
Three hospital trust indicators published to aid research into seven-day NHS provision

Prescribing costs in hospitals and the community
22 November 2016: "Prescribing costs in hospitals and the community", published today by NHS Digital, reports the overall costs of medicines used in hospitals and those prescribed in primary care. It also looks at medicines positively appraised by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
First monthly report published on out of area placements for mental health patients
02 December 2016: NHS Digital has today published initial provisional figures from a new interim data collection which captures details on mental health patients being admitted to a unit that does not form part of their usual local network of services.
