MHSDS Improving data quality for dementia care pathway

Event description

People living with dementia without a diagnosis are at high risk of poorer outcomes and are more likely to experience crises and hospital admissions. A timely diagnosis of dementia is a crucial step in receiving the support needed to help people with dementia live as well as possible, for as long as possible.

The Mental Health Delivery Plan for 2022/23 highlights key deliverables for dementia including:

  • recovery of the dementia diagnosis rate of two thirds (66.7%) of prevalence
  • supporting access to Post Diagnostic Support (PDS)

This webinar aimed to support providers to accurately submit data for the dementia care pathway in terms of referrals and diagnoses, and to increase assurance that people are being seen by services.

Target audience

This webinar was targeted at:

  • colleagues responsible for submitting data to the MHSDS
  • clinicians, service managers and commissioners working at local level
  • regional and national policy leads
