More than a million people have now registered with NHS login following an upsurge in demand for digital services during the coronavirus pandemic.
The first week in April saw a peak in the number of applications for NHS logins with more than 60,000 new IDs verified between 30 March and 5 April.
NHS login allows patients to gain swift and secure access to their healthcare information across a variety of connected apps and platforms, wherever they see the NHS login button. This reduces the need for multiple logins and passwords by creating a single point of access to these apps.
Several new tools have been incorporated into the NHS login system to help meet the increased demand, including automated identity checking for Android users, with the feature also being made available to iOS users in the near future.
Later this month users who are having problems will be able to access an online help function to guide them through the login application process. NHS login is also releasing a new verification capability that will specifically benefit patients accessing online consultation services.
NHS login has continued to work with app and website developers to increase the number of health and care services available online for patients. Websites and apps already using NHS login have seen the numbers of patients using their services, such as those that give the ability to order repeat prescriptions, view their GP medical record and check their symptoms, increase rapidly in recent weeks.
The first app to go live with NHS login - the NHS App – has now hit 520,000 registered users, with more than 119,000 new users in March alone.
