31 July 2017: Following on from the announcements about our leadership team in August, we are pleased to have agreed with David Hughes that he will continue to work with us part-time as Director of Life Sciences, providing strategic advice and support to the Board two days per week.

David will work closely with Tom Denwood, Director of Data and Integration, who is leading on the transformation of data services and work to integrate the health and care system.

David said: "I am delighted to continue my work at NHS Digital. This role will allow me to balance my external commitments and passion around mental health analysis, as well as continue to support the NHS in our aspiration of using data to improve people's lives. I will be working closely with NHS England and look forward to supporting the team deliver on the commitments set out in Personalised Health and Care 2020."

Tom said: "It's great to be able to continue to draw on David's expertise as we continue the journey he started; giving the best support possible to those working in the health and care system through better use of data."

Interim Chief Executive Rob Shaw said: "We are very pleased that David will remain with NHS Digital at such a crucial time, as we work hand in glove with health and care partners to realise the aims of the data strategy for the benefit of patients and citizens."
