NHS Digital's Director of Data Science, Professor Daniel Ray, has been named in the 2018 dataIQ 100 list.

He was lauded as a data titan in the data news site's annual power list that profiles the most influential people in data-driven business in 2018.

Professor Ray, who has been working in data and informatics for over 20 years, joined NHS Digital as Director of Data in March 2016 and has been leading the national data services platform for the NHS.

In 2018 he will be working on a new set of health data that will be available to research and analyse for the first time as well as linking together data sets that haven't been able to be linked before.

Professor Ray said: "It is an honour to be named in the dataIQ 100 and delighted to feature alongside some of the most influential people in this sector.

"I look forward to continuing to work hard over the course of 2018 to deliver new streams of data that will have a real positive impact on the NHS frontline.

"There can be so much good done by improving care and health to so many people by using data in the right, innovative way."
