NHS Digital’s Head of Legal nominated for prestigious award
NHS Digital’s Head of Legal has been nominated for the Law Society’s In-House Solicitor of the Year award.
Hazel Randall was nominated for the award by her team who describe her as a “fantastic and inspirational leader and an excellent lawyer”.
“It was entirely unexpected,” said Hazel. “God bless my team. They did tell me that they were putting me forward for an award, but it was around the time of the NHS Digital internal awards, so I just assumed they meant that.
“I’m extremely grateful to them all. You don’t get to achieve anything without the whole team working hard together. They’re the ones who help to make me look good.”
The team’s detailed submission outlines how Hazel single-handedly established NHS Digital’s legal team from scratch in 2016 and has since gone on to create a professional, knowledgeable team delivering brilliant and innovative legal services.
“We are nominating Hazel as we want to share her achievements and thank her publicly,” said her colleagues. “The regard in which Hazel is held by those around her is clear from the amount and depth of feedback we received, and demonstrates her skill, good humour, determination and enthusiasm for the work we do.”
Hazel officially joined NHS Digital four years ago, having previously spent two years working in a contractor role as the Commercial Lead on NHS Digital’s spine programme. She also worked for DLA Piper in Leeds where her most recent role was Legal Director.
In a career spanning 20 years, she has extensive experience in all types of technology and telecommunications contracts, outsourcing, data protection assurance, standard licenses and maintenance contracts.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Wednesday October 23.
The event is attended by more than 900 industry professionals – with this year’s ceremony hosted by BAFTA award-winning journalist Kirsty Wark.
