Digitisation in Dentistry and Optometry: an introduction to widening connectivity across different healthcare settings

You are invited to join NHS Digital and NHSX for a supplier engagement webinar that specifically focuses on the further digitisation of dentistry and optometry.

Taking place on Wednesday 28 July from 10.30am to 12noon, the session will explore the work we are undertaking to enable optometry and dentistry providers to utilise clinical patient data to aid the delivery of front-line care across different healthcare settings, notably by integrating the Direct Care API (also known as GP Connect).

What will the event cover?

The event will provide an overview of the national Digital PODAC programme NHS Digital and NHSX are developing to improve digitisation and productivity using digital technology across pharmacy, optometry, dentistry, ambulance, and community (PODAC) sectors.

The session will provide suppliers with:

  • an overview of the Digital PODAC programme, with specific focus on the Dentistry and Optometry sectors and the importance of providing these sectors with access to GP data for direct patient care
  • information on our Direct Care API, also known as GP Connect, that enables authorised clinician staff to have access to GP data for direct patient care, in a standard form across different systems and care settings
  • guidance on how to implement the API
  • information on the opportunities to take part in First of Type work this year

Who is the event for?

IT suppliers will be fundamental in the delivery of this programme of work and engagement with the sector is crucial. As such we would like as many system suppliers as possible to join us, specifically those providing IT systems to the dentistry and optometry sectors.

At the event, we would really encourage you to share information with us about any of your challenges and barriers you face and also any customer feedback that you believe could support this work.

The commissioners and delivery teams from NHSX and NHS Digital will be in attendance and answering questions.

If this is relevant to you but you cannot attend on the day, please still get in touch by emailing us at [email protected]
