Local authority social care workforce

Numbers of jobs in local authority adult social care have increased in the latest year, and vacancies have decreased.

There have been more starters than leavers in recent years.

The type of role employed directly by a local authority has changed slightly – moving away from direct care roles towards other types of role, including professional and other.

This data, which includes only those roles under the direct employment of local authorities, only covers c.7% of the full social care workforce (as measured by Skills for Care).
