The Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) forms part of an overall Maternity and Children's Data Set (MCDS) that has been developed as a key driver to achieving better outcomes of care for mothers, babies and children.
The latest release (ISB 1513 Amd 45/2012) was published by the Information Standards Board (ISB) on 14 May 2014. Since then a number of minor errors have been identified and the Corrigendum, below, lists those errors and the corrections. The Corrigendum was accepted by SCCI at its meeting on 25 March 2015. It will be incorporated in the next release of this information standard. The NHS Data Model and Dictionary service has issued an updated Change Request, below, to accompany the Corrigendum.
The ISB-approved standard specification and implementation guidance on the ISB website remain in force and should be used as the starting point for implementation and use of the Maternity Services Data Set.
