DCB1593: Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Risk Assessment

Quarterly census of inpatients aged 16 and over who are being risk assessed for Venous Thromboembolism (VTE).

About this data collection

This is a mandatory data collection which quantifies the numbers and proportion of inpatient hospital admissions – aged 16 and over – who are being risk assessed for Venous Thromboembolism ( VTE).

The national VTE prevention programme ensures that every patient (16 years and over) has a documented VTE risk assessment on admission to hospital, and that this risk assessment is conducted in accordance with clinical guidelines issued by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

The assessment allows for prophylaxis to be given where appropriate.

The latest release of this national collection, DCB1593 Amd 99/2018, was approved by the Data Coordination Board (DCB) on 28 September 2018.
