Mental Health Services Dataset – Out of Area Placements (OAPs) webinar
- Tuesday 17 November 2020
- 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
This webinar is for all Mental Health Service Providers and will explore the topic of Out of Area Placements (OAPs). The Government has set a national ambition to eliminate inappropriate OAPs in mental health services for adults in acute inpatient care by 2020-21. Inappropriate OAPs are where patients are sent out of area because no bed is available for them locally, which is associated with poor patient experience and outcomes.
At present OAPs are captured and reported upon via the Clinical Audit Platform (CAP) and the Mental Health Services Dataset (MHSDS), creating unnecessary burden for providers. This webinar will explore the importance of submitting OAPs data, the process for submitting OAPs data from a sender and a receiver perspective, which providers are submitting data to CAP but not to MHSDS, discrepancies between the two submissions and cases where providers are incorrectly classifying admissions as OAPs.
Bookings for this webinar are now live. The webinar will be recorded for reference and will be immediately followed up with a series of actions to be undertaken by providers.
