The coronavirus (COVID-19) shielded patient list is enabling partner organisations across government to support and protect those who need shielding at this time. This data shows open data about the Shielded Patient List, and how it has been used.

What this data shows
The dashboards provide a count of living patients that are classified as being on the Shielded Patient List.
The open data contains:
- A count of living patients that are classified as being on the Shielded Patient List by CCG of residence, broken down by age band and gender
- A count of living patients that are classified as being on the Shielded Patient List by local authority of residence, broken down by age band and gender
- A count of living patients that are classified as being on the Shielded Patient List by upper tier local authority of residence, broken down by age band and gender
- A count of living patients that are classified as being on the Shielded Patient List over time
You can also see this data split by disease group.
This data has been released to inform the public and support the health and social care system in planning.
It is updated regularly to inform the public and support the health and social care system with planning. Each list will be based on the latest version of the shielded patient list clinical methodology at that time.
This version of the Shielded Patient List includes patients identified as clinically extremely vulnerable using the COVID-19 Population Risk Assessment. Find further information about the COVID-19 Population Risk Assessment.
The open dataset includes regional and local data to allow for analysis, modelling and planning to take place to aid the response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Dashboard
The data within this dashboard is updated weekly, however there is up to a week lag from the data extraction to publication to allow for the data to be processed and the necessary data quality assurance to be completed. This could result in the dashboard data being up to thirteen days old.

Caveats
The Shielded Patient List is continually being refreshed with additional data, updated data, and/or updated logic.
This data is only accurate at the time of production.
Only patients with a CCG in England are included in this analysis, and therefore the number of patients in the CCG data will not be the same as the total number of patients on the SPL.
