Helping providers identify potential oximetry @home patients

A summary of the information we provide to service providers to help them identify suitable candidates for oximetry @home.

Retired service

In July 2022, NHS Digital started a managed closure of the COVID Oximetry @home data services it provides to clinical commissioning groups (CCGs). This was to align with the end of the COVID-19 COPI notices and to reduce data collection burden. The closure is now complete.

A national supply of pulse oximeters remains available by request to support COVID Oximetry @home services.

We send providers of oximetry @home services two files, every day, containing Pillar 2 data (by 9am), and Pillar 1 and Pillar 4 data (by 9am). This data includes:

  • patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 who live or are registered in their CCG area
  • indicators highlighting those patients who meet the recommended criteria for being considered for oximetry @home - those over 65 and/or those regarded as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable and/or those who are symptomatic at the point of testing
  • a flag for those patients who have not received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine

If you are a provider who needs this information and is not currently receiving it, email us.
