Summary

12 January 2017: The qof-1516-ind-ref file has been corrected and is shown below as 'v2'; in the first version of the file, the definition for indicator OB002 was incorrectly labelled as OB001.

This Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) publication provides data for the reporting year 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016.

The QOF was introduced as part of the new General Medical Services (GMS) contract on 1 April 2004. The objective of the QOF is to improve the quality of care patients are given by rewarding practices for the quality of care they provide to their patients.

The Calculating Quality Reporting Service (CQRS), together with the General Practice Extraction Service (GPES) were used for the extraction of QOF data.

There have been changes to QOF coding and indicators. These are referred to throughout this publication. Consideration must be given to changes to indicators and their definitions each year when interpreting differences and comparing data from one year to the next.

25 November 2016: Previously, some titles for data relating to Obesity were incorrectly labelled as applying to patients aged 16 and over in 2015-16, when they apply to those aged 18 and over. This has been corrected in tables 4.2 and 5.3.1 in the Report for England and Annex 1. Labels have also been corrected in the Lifestyles (LS) tabs in the Prevalence all groups at all levels workbook, where labels for data relating to Obesity were incorrectly labelled as applying to patients aged 18 and over in 2014-15, when they applied to patients age 16 and over.

The Prevalence, Achievements and Exceptions workbooks have been updated; in the previous version of these files, counts of practices covered by higher aggregations, and achievement rates for those indicators that are comprised of a register only, were omitted. These have now been included and are highlighted in orange. All updated files are labelled as 'V2'.
