Summary
Aiming to improve the national diagnosis rate for dementia, this annual report on dementia diagnosis data supports the Prime Minister's Dementia Challenge.
Highlights
427,000 people in England (1 in every 132 people registered with a GP) were recorded as having dementia.
1 in every 23 people aged 65+ were recorded as having dementia.
20.9 per cent of women aged 90+ (1 in every 5) were recorded as having dementia.
Between October 2014 and March 2015, there was a noticeable increase in the number of recorded dementia diagnoses in England.
The proportion of people aged 65 and over with a recorded dementia diagnosis (prevalence rate) is greater in the north of England.
