About our data

All percentages are rounded to one decimal place, so adding percentages may not give an accurate total.

Direct comparisons with last year's data cannot be made, as the methodology has changed.

Appointed data has been taken from the ESR Data Warehouse and relates only to appointees who were previously external to NHS Digital.

Applicants and shortlisted data has been taken from NHS Jobs and relates to both internal and external candidates.

For ESR data

Disability status

An individual's disability status is self-determined and not subject to the types of validation procedures undertaken by NHS Digital for data in official publications. As such, these figures should be treated with a degree of caution.

Staff that have declined to comment on their disability status are shown as "Not Disclosed" and staff without a stated disability status have been categorised as "Unknown".

Religious belief

An individual's religious belief is self-determined and not subject to the types of validation procedures undertaken by NHS Digital for data in official publications. As such, these figures should be treated with a degree of caution.

Additional information

Due to low numbers, it's not possible to report on the number of employee relation cases.

Access to training data is not available due to a change in reporting mechanisms, but it will be available for 2017/18.

1,936 staff responded to the staff survey, but 48.8% of staff chose not to declare information about their protected characteristics. Therefore this analysis is based on the responses of those 51.2% of employees that did declare information about their protected characteristics. Due to low numbers it is not possible to report on all protected characteristics.
