Indicators
NHS Digital publishes over a thousand indicators covering quality through to population health and outcomes of treatments.
The Indicator Portal is a free tool that provides valuable information for health and care professionals.
Commentary documents accompanying selected clinical indicators can be viewed in our data catalogue.
Our Indicator Assurance Service ensures that national health and social care indicators are well defined, and based on good data with clear methodologies.
If you would like to receive updates when new or updated indicators have been added you can email enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk to be added to our mailing list.
Indicator Portal Collection
The Indicator Portal is made up of a number of indicators.
We also include an archive of indicators that were previously displayed on the Indicator Portal or produced by the Clinical Indicators team.
These indicators include comparative information about the quality of health services commissioned by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), and associated health outcomes.
Compendium of Population Health Indicators
The Compendium is a collection of indicators, giving a comprehensive overview of population health at a national, regional and local level.
Patient Online Management Information (POMI)
This monthly collection focuses on the NHS England programme that supports GP Practices in promoting online services to patients. These include access to coded information in records, appointment booking and ordering of repeat prescriptions.
NHS Outcomes Framework
This framework sets the outcomes and indicators used by the Secretary of State to hold the NHS to account and to encourage health and care improvements.
