Learning Disabilities Data

Data Provision Notice to require the submission of general practice data to support the production of a range of primary care indicators covering the quality of care for people with learning disabilities

Overview

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), has directed NHS England to collect and analyse data in connection with the Learning Disabilities Observatories GPES Extract Data Collection Directions 2018.

From August 2020 the collection has been known as the Learning Disabilities Data Extract (LDD). This is because the Learning Disabilities Observatory was removed as an organisation of Public Health England (PHE); the programme of work transferred to NHS England.

NHS England collects the required data from general practices in England. The data is used:

  • to support the production of primary care indicators covering care quality for people with a learning disability
  • for the benchmarking and quality improvement of primary care provision for people with learning disabilities

to support improved commissioning and delivery of healthcare for people with learning disabilities.

Scope

This Notice is served on General Practices in England whose system suppliers are in scope of this data collection:

  • EMIS
  • Cegedim

Legal basis for provision of data
