Service manager practitioner

I know it’s a bit clichéd, but I always wanted to work in role that mattered. I spent nearly a year as nursing assistant on a trauma ward, before completing a business degree, which included a placement year within the management team in neurosciences at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

When I came across this role, it sounded an exciting way to use my skills and be part of the healthcare system. I entered the graduate scheme straight from university, involving four six-month placements in different parts of the organisation. Then I chose to join the National Testing Service.

I love how relevant my role is. Being so involved in major incidents and seeing the work I put in equate to changes and improvements in the service.

We deal with any digital incidents within the service, working closely with the suppliers that provide its different components to ensure the service is running smoothly.

Every incident matters because it is affecting a person on the testing journey. It’s been a challenging time for everyone throughout the pandemic, but I’ve been part of a great team and know I am working on things that are hopefully improving the situation for many people.
