Estates Return Information Collection (ERIC) Data Provision Notice

The aim of the Estates Return Information Collection (ERIC) is to provide accountability to Parliament, the Government, and the public on NHS estates expenditure. The NHS spends approximately £9 billion to provide, maintain and service the physical NHS estate which supports the delivery of healthcare.

Scope of the collection

This collection relates to sites owned and sites used by the NHS (‘the NHS Estate’) in the delivery of healthcare. All NHS trusts, including ambulance trusts, in England as included.

Legal basis for the process of data

Under section 259(1)(a) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.


The data are collected annually via the online Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) system.
