Summary
This quarterly report brings together information on NHS dental activity in England up to quarter 3 2016-17 and information on the number of patients seen by an NHS dentist up to quarter 4 of 2016-17.
Highlights
In the 24 month period ending 31st March 2017, 22.2 million adult patients were seen by an NHS dentist, representing 51.5 per cent of the adult population.
The number of children seen by an NHS dentist in the 12 months to 31st March 2017 was 6.8 million. This equates to 58.2 per cent of the child population.
There were 9.7 million courses of treatments (CoT) in quarter 3 of 2016-17, a decrease of 127,592 (1.3 per cent) on quarter 3 of 2015-16, based on provisional data.
